St Edward’s Church is a flourishing centre of worship in the Anglican tradition, with weekly Sunday services of Choral Eucharist and Choral Evensong, and daily acts of worship. For over 40 years the Church has recognised its special ministry to musicians and artists in the locality, and St Edward’s Music & Arts Centre coordinates that outreach to the community, providing opportunities for amateurs and professionals to rehearse and perform in an auditorium of outstanding acoustic quality. The Centre is overseen by Director of Music, Dr Alan Mayer, who is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the very busy music and arts provision at St Edward's. Instruments available at the church include a three-manual pipe organ, and an excellent grand piano. A second grand piano is available in the rehearsal room.

Currently thirteen music and arts organisations meet, rehearse and perform at St Edward's. In addition, a series of monthly Saturday morning "Coffee Concerts" is organised each year by Jayne Thomas. Some are given by the resident music organisations, but the majority are performances by other local musicians. In addition we have a series of Spring Concerts on Saturday evenings at 7.30pm, Piano Recitals on Sundays at 3pm, and a Jazz Month (four consecutive Saturday mornings at 11am).

While many of the activities coordinated by St Edward’s Music & Arts Centre are musical, there are also Art Exhibitions, Poetry Readings, Dramatic Performances and Readings. In particular, during St Edward's Music & Arts Festival in October several events are held at St Edward's in collaboration with the Made in Roath Community Arts Festival.

Community groups also meet at the church, including a "Forget Me Not" Cafe, Gardening Club, and Community Choir.

Several local professional musicians currently support the work of St Edward’s Music and Arts Centre, and many of the music organisations welcome new members from the local community. The resident music and arts organisations, concert series, supporting professionals and community groups are listed at the foot of this page.
